Growing up on her family’s row crop and livestock farm near the small southeastern North Carolina community of Rowland, Maggie developed a passion for the food animal industry. By helping with hay, repairing fences and bottle-feeding calves from their small black angus cow-calf herd, Maggie has been encouraged and inspired to work with farm animals. Her experiences in both Robeson and Bladen County 4H, through showing goats, chickens, and a turkey at the local and state fair, have led to a pursuit of a double major in Animal and Poultry Science at North Carolina State University. While at NC State, Maggie has served as an officer for the Poultry Science Club, as well as the National Wild Turkey Federation Collegiate Chapter and is also a member of the NC Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers club. During her summers away from school, she completed two internships in the turkey and swine divisions with Prestage Farms. Attending cattle auctions with her dad and grandad has fueled Maggie’s passion for the cattle industry and has inspired her to advocate on behalf of the producers involved.
After completing her education, Maggie hopes to pursue a career which allows her to give back to the food animal industries of North Carolina, while returning home to grow her family’s cow-calf operation.

Hello! My name is Emily Oberman, and I am beyond excited to work alongside the NC Cattlemen's Association as an intern this year!
Over the past five years, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to show cattle and other livestock through the Corinth Holders FFA and Batten Farm 4-H. These experiences have shaped my passion for agriculture and livestock care.
I remain an active member of both FFA and 4-H alumni, continuing to give back to the programs that molded me by mentoring and supporting the next generation of students involved in agriculture.I am currently a student pursuing a major in Animal Science. As an aspiring large animal veterinarian with a deep connection to the cattle industry, I am beyond excited to expand my outreach and contribute to promoting the importance of cattle within North Carolina. This internship offers a valuable chance to learn from industry professionals and engage more deeply with the challenges and opportunities facing cattle producers.
I’m also passionate about teaching people in our communities who may be unaware of farming practices, raising livestock, or agriculture in general. I hope to help them understand and appreciate how important agriculture is in our daily lives.
I look forward to meeting new people, contributing to the association’s efforts, and supporting the continued growth and success of the cattle industry in North Carolina. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and excited to embrace this new role!
